Francis Scarpaleggia, Member of Parliament for Lac-Saint-Louis and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, today joined Beaconsfield Mayor Georges Bourelle and members of Beaconsfield City Council to unveil a contribution of $723,558 in federal funding for improvements to Beaconsfield’s Briarwood Park. The total cost of the project is $1,220,135.
The grant is from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF), a $500-million national fund that is supporting not-for-profit organizations, municipalities and other public-sector bodies, as well as Indigenous communities, in building and revitalizing community assets and spaces in the aftermath of the easing of COVID-19 public-health measures.
The CCRF is administered by Canada’s regional development agencies. For its part, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions is investing $107 million in the province under the program.
“The City of Beaconsfield is very grateful for this partnership opportunity. We are pleased to be able to offer residents the opportunity to play and exercise on an inclusive, quality playground. This park will benefit young and old in the neighbourhood, including the disabled and mobility-impaired population, who will be able to enjoy the benefits of outdoor play,” stated Mayor Bourelle.
“I am truly pleased that Beaconsfield is benefiting from this federal support aimed at helping communities across Canada rebound from the pandemic through investments that support local quality of life. The City of Beaconsfield is renowned for its focus on providing quality public spaces, like Briarwood Park, where citizens can meet, enjoy their outdoor surroundings and experience a strong sense of community,” added Scarpaleggia.
