Member of Parliament for Lac-Saint-Louis
Lac-Saint-Louis

The riding of Lac-Saint-Louis has a population of 108,579 with 83,788 registered voters.

The riding covers the western-most part of the island of Montreal and includes seven municipalities: Pointe-Claire; Beaconsfield; Kirkland; Baie d’Urfe; Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue; Senneville; a portion of the Borough of Pierrefonds (City of Montreal); and Ste-Geneviève (a community in the Montreal Borough of Ste-Geneviève-l’Île-Bizard).

Lac-Saint-Louis is a bilingual community open to the world.  In addition to its English- and French-speaking citizens, the riding welcomes Canadians from around the world who have chosen the “West Island” as their home.

Lac-Saint-Louis’ primary and secondary schools operate under two linguistic school boards (the Lester B. Pearson School Board and the Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys).  The riding also includes two CEGEPs (John Abbott College and Collège Gérald-Godin), and the Macdonald Campus of McGill University (School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences).

The riding’s economy is diverse, innovative, and export-oriented.  In addition to its large retail and commercial sectors, the riding boasts a dynamic industrial base spread over a series of industrial parks.

One of the West Island’s most well-known features is its network of volunteer organizations that support a full range of needs within the community.  The riding’s healthcare sector includes two major hospitals—the Lakeshore General Hospital and the St. Anne’s Veterans Hospital—and a state-of-the-art palliative care residence whose leadership in the field of end-of-life care is nationally recognized.

Lac-Saint-Louis’ recreational programs and infrastructure are key contributing factors to the community’s quality of life, social cohesion, and family-friendly environment.  The Lakeshore and Pointe-Claire soccer associations, the Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield aquatic centres, various hockey and ringuette associations, and the summertime Association of Lakeshore Pools are but a few examples of the organized sporting opportunities that exist to ensure residents—young and old—enjoy an active and varied athletic lifestyle.

Last but not least, Lac-Saint-Louis enjoys a vibrant cultural life.  Organizations like the Lakeshore Light Opera, the Lakeshore Players, the Beaconsfield Artists Association, and the West Island Youth Orchestra have access to first-rate cultural spaces.  The community’s many public libraries offer an array of excellent programs and activities, including summer reading programs for children.
